One Step Closer to the Great American Dictatorship

For Hitler it was Joseph Goebbels, for George W. Bush it´s Armstrong Williams. (Well, actually I think Karl Rove is Bush´s Goebbels, but for the sake of proving a point we´ll say it´s Williams in this one case)

Who was Joseph Goebbels? He was Hitler´s Minister of Enlightenment, otherwise known as the head of propaganda. You all must have heard of Goebbels before, he´s a political propaganda legend, he´s the guy who made all those posters and movies that made millions believe "Jews bad, Third Reich good."

So who is Armstrong Williams? He´s the "journalist" who was paid $240,000 to promote the Bush education reform law "on his nationally syndicated television show and to urge other black journalists to do the same." What could be better to garner minority support for minority crushing Bush reforms than having a bunch of black journalists towing the Bush line?

I guess that means that we can say goodbye to what's left of unbiased and ethical reporting in the United States. After all, that's taxpayer money being used to brainwash us into believing Bush´s reforms are gggggggreat!

And just as suspected, what the Bush administration has done is considered by federal law ILLEGAL!

A September 30 Government Accountability Office report makes it clear that the Bush administration violated federal law by using taxpayer funds to create "covert propaganda." This is not the first time that the GAO found the administration in violation of the publicity and propaganda prohibition.

Previous GAO investigations found other instances where the White House broke federal law prohibiting the use of "fake news." A separate report by members of the House Committee on Government Reform found that the administration has set aside a quarter billion in taxpayer dollars for similar publicity campaigns.

And of course, the namby pamby Democrats aren´t going to do a damn thing about all of this, so it´s time that we did. I am amazed that Bush and cronies have done so many illegal things and they have yet to be ousted. This is just one more thing to tack onto the list.

Contact Congress and Attorney General Gonzales and tell them you want the White House to fully disclose all administration expenditures for publicity.
